A lot of these pictures were taken prior to the previous owners, Ray and Lorraine, moving out. Ray was the sweetest old man, and I am sure Lorraine was just as a amazing. He loved to tell us all about the house and the property when we were there moving in. He didn’t want to move but I think he knew it was time. He would get teary eyed telling us about his deer that he couldn’t hunt any longer because they were his friends. They moved out in late October and he had a few things left to move during the month of November while we rented. I think he tried to stretch out the moving process as long as possible. He would often come to get a few things from the garage, but Kit saw him a few times just sitting in his truck, looking out at the field. Him and his wife moved into town, the country life had just gotten to be too much. We told him he could come out whenever he’d like, I hope he does. On a kind of funny/sad note, we had rented a dumpster for a few weeks, just before we became the official owners, and a few weeks after. I made it a priority to pull the carpet. It was likely installed in the 70’s and it was just in rough shape, it needed to go. After I pulled it all out (with the help of 2 little munchkins of the Grayson variety), Ray pulled up, looked at the dumpster, looked at Kit, and asked what we were doing to the house! I felt so bad, he loved his house so much, but that carpet needed to go.

The glorious out buildings! The first building in the old garage, which needs to come down, it is teetered to the ground because the lean is so bad. Second to left is the new garage, then the grain bin, which is AWESOME, and past that is the old barn pad with another leaning building that will likely come down this spring. There is a ton of pretty cool old wood in the old garage that we hope to incorporate into the house. The siding on the garage is a pressed tin that we will try to save and use as well.
