Greetings and Salutations from Pig Farm Road

(originally posted Dec 9, 2013)

So the past few months have been exciting at the Grayson household! An overview: after looking online at a few houses, we decided to get serious about our future home search. We contacted a realtor and found a house we were kind of interested in. We decided to get a little more serious and the realtor gave us a long list of to do’s in order to sell our house so we could purchase a new one. After 3 super busy weeks of finishing the final updates on the house, we were ready to put it on the market. We new we didn’t have to sell, which was nice, but after only a week on the market, we had a great offer which we accepted.

It was now time to get serious about our house hunt! We had a list of criteria: at least 10 acres, we didn’t want to have the house near the road, we didn’t want to live in a swamp… and we had to be able to afford it. After looking at 4 or 5 houses, we came back to the one we kind of liked and we decided we really liked it. It was on 40 acres, which was a huge appeal and it had an awesome view of the lake. The house was built in 1921 and needs some TLC, but that didn’t scare us off… (Note: I am revamping the blog 5 years later and  I am laughing which reading it needed some TLC… it needed a bull dozer, but live and learn). We made an offer and it was accepted, everything went relatively smoothly and Nov 27th, 2013 we closed on the house!

After amazing friends and family helped us move, a new puppy, three snowstorms, a 4th anniversary and one full dumpster; we have been in the house for almost a month! It’s been busy and crazy and wonderful!
